How it works
Everything is inline. Click the name, the @handle, the tweet text, the timestamp, the like count — whatever you want to change — and just type over it. There’s no form to fill in and no separate edit mode to switch on and off.
A few things worth pointing out:
- Themes sit up top. Light, dim, and the pitch-black one (X calls that “lights out”). Pick whichever matches the screenshot you’re trying to blend in with.
- The badge next to the name cycles through none, the blue check, and the gold business check. Tweets from before 2021 wouldn’t have a check at all, so leave it off if you’re going for an older look.
- To add a picture, drop it straight onto the tweet or click the image area to browse. Screenshots and memes both work fine.
- When it looks right, export a PNG or copy the image to your clipboard and paste it wherever it’s going.
Making one that actually looks real
The thing that gives most fake tweets away is the numbers. 2.1M likes on a reply from an account with 400 followers fools nobody. Match the metrics to the person — a regular account gets tens or maybe hundreds of likes, not millions — and round them the way real counts round.
The timestamp and the little “Twitter for iPhone” line matter more than you’d think too. They’re the details people check without realizing they’re checking. And if you’re recreating something old, keep in mind the layout, the badges, and even the bird-vs-X logo have all changed a few times, so a “2016 tweet” with today’s UI reads as fake instantly.
Who this is for
In practice it’s designers mocking up a feature, marketers dropping a testimonial into a slide, teachers building a worksheet, and a lot of people making memes. It’s faster than the alternative, which is screenshotting a real tweet and then cropping out your own notification bar and battery icon.
